Pope Francis delights in Slow Faith

FROM SEA TO SHINING SI

Slow Faith was born from a quiet call to slow down. Pope Francis' Laudato si' invited me to slow my pace so that I could discern God's voice amid all the competing voices. But the seed of Slow Faith had been planted years before on a beach in North Carolina. As a young mom of four boys, I soaked up every word of Gift from the Sea. Anne Morrow Lindbergh offered me an entirely new vision of motherhood-one rooted in stillness and grace.

My kids will be the first to tell you I haven't always lived from this sacred place - but they can also tell you how much I've changed since the art of Slow Faith began to take root in me. And stillness and grace are just the beginning of the story.

This chapter of Slow Faith is opening into something wider and more surprising than I ever imagined. New voices, fresh energy, and dear friends are joining the journey. I can’t wait for you to meet them!

Also, consider signing up for book clubs and small groups that dive into living closer to creation, igniting creativity, and inspiring nutritional healing.

As this new chapter unfolds with fresh voices and shared wisdom, I find myself looking back to the very spark that set it all in motion. Somehow the Holy Spirit saw it fitting for me to meet Pope Francis. What began with reading Laudato si’ became a moment I’ll never forget—standing face to face, holding his hand, and thanking him for the fire he lit in me. A blessing beyond words.

For someone who tends to live small and overthink every decision, this was never on my radar. But God’s plans often stretch far beyond what we can see. Expect the unexpected.

In past seasons of Slow Faith, I’ve asked ‘Who are you becoming?’

In this new season I ask, ‘What wider reality might God be preparing for you?’

We often cling to the familiar, but the kingdom of God “can never be tamed, manipulated, or confined.” Maybe now is the time to set sail into something new—and trust the mystery.

P.S. What is it that has Pope Francis so delighted in this photo? The sight of a humble backyard chicken ☺️
