Valerie Maloof
Valerie is passionate about nurturing the affections of the true, good, and beautiful in the culture, through faith, and by the reading of great and beautiful books.
A former English teacher, she completed a PhD in Language Education at UGA, focusing on the intersections of language, identity and culture. For a short time, she homeschooled her four children which provided her a rich soil to practice and create in her home much of the Slow Faith philosophy.
Both her educational research and her Catholic faith greatly influence her perspective on how culture shapes faith and family life and vice versa; thus, Valerie is an avid proponent of slowing down, limiting technology, finding joy in the simple and sacred, and reading often and always. As a lifelong learner, she looks forward to engaging with and learning valuable lessons from the Slow Faith community.
She and her husband, Steve, have four children and are active members of Christ the King parish in Atlanta.
